WWE: Nick Aldis Reinstated as SmackDown General Manager, Brie Bella Suffered Shoulder Injury at SummerSlam 2026, CM Punk on His Undisputed WWE Title Match Not Being The Main Event of SummerSlam Night 1 & Calls Out Oba Femi For Future Match

Nick Aldis Reinstated as SmackDown General Manager

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 event in Minneapolis, Minnesota featured Gunther defeating Nick Aldis in a singles match. This match was notable for being Aldis’ first match in his WWE career and him also temporarily stepping down as SmackDown General Manager in order to have the match.

During the WWE SummerSlam post-show, Aldis was being interviewed by Cathy Kelley backstage about his match before being interrupted by WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque. Aldis handed his letter of resignation as General Manager to Levesque, who responded by tearing it up and telling Aldis that his officially reinstated back as the GM of SmackDown.

Brie Bella Suffered Shoulder Injury at WWE SummerSlam 2026

Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 event in Minneapolis, Minnesota also featured Fatal Influence (Lainey Reid, Fallon Henley, & Jacy Jayne) defeating The Bella Twins (Brie & Nikki Bella) & Paige in a Six-Woman Tag Team match.

During the match, Brie suffered a potential right shoulder injury following a spot involving Jayne hitting a cannonball to her onto the steel ring steps. Brie was seen clutching her shoulder during a conversation with the referee and continued grabbing at her shoulder throughout the rest of the match.

Brie Bella seemed to have suffered a legit injury to her right shoulder during the match against Fatal Influence.

It possibly happened on the steel stairs spot with Jacy Jayne — as Brie held her shoulder for the rest of the match/post-match.

Following the match, Brie continued grabbing her shoulder during the Bella Twins’ post-match heel turn on Paige and was barely involved in the attack angle.

During the SummerSlam post-show, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque confirmed that Brie had suffered a shoulder injury.

“She is injured. I don’t have an update yet. She got some treatment here, has been taken to the hospital to get some scans done. Don’t have a clean answer on it yet. I know she hurt her shoulder. Seems pretty bad, but I don’t have that answer yet.  Hopefully we will soon, and it won’t be as bad as we thought it was. But that’s the nature of the game. We’ll pivot accordingly for everything. It’s unfortunate, I hate it, this part of the business.”

CM Punk on His Undisputed WWE Title Match Not Being The Main Event of SummerSlam Night 1 & Calls Out Oba Femi

Following Saturday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 1 event, WWE held a SummerSlam post-show featuring Undisputed WWE Champion as one of the guests. One of the topics discussed included Punk’s thoughts about his match against Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship not being the main event match on the show.

“Of course I had feelings about that, but I’m not one of these guys who has it in their contract that I HAVE to end the show. Ladies and gentlemen, there is a main event, and there is the match that goes last. It ain’t for me to decide. I’m too old for that. I’m just going to lace my boots up and beat somebody’s ass, that’s all I know. Whether I’m first, before intermission, popcorn match, semi-main, main, CM Punk is ALWAYS the main event.”

In response to the fans in attendance shouting out Oba Femi’s name when Punk asked for who they wanted to see challenge him for his title, Punk stated:

“Give me names. Somebody from AAA. Mini Vikingo. Dominik. How about Grayson Waller? How about somebody from TNA? Huh? Where’s Arik Cannon at? Oba? You want Oba? I want Oba. Listen, Oba Femi, without a doubt, is the future. That does not mean that I am not the present. Be careful what you try to open underneath the Christmas tree. You may not like what you get. Oba is fantastic. My experience trumps his ability. Oba hasn’t picked what champion he wants to go after. If he wants to wallow in obscurity, go after Roman. If you want to live under the bright lights, come after the real champ.”
