Kevin Owens Makes Surprise Return

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota featured Kevin Owens making a surprise in-ring return.

Prior to the start of the #1 Contender match between Sami Zayn and Finn Balor, Nick Aldis came out and talked about how he was reinstated as SmackDown General Manager last night. Aldis stated that he was going to do what was best for business and add a participant to the match. This led to Gunther’s music playing and him coming out to the ring. Aldis then stated that wasn’t the only person being added which led to Owens music playing to a roaring ovation from the crowd and turning the match into a Fatal Four-way.

This was Owens’ first appearance since this past June’s NXT Great American Bash 2026 event and his first match since February of 2025 due to a neck injury and surgery.

Kevin Owens Wins Shot at Undisputed WWE Title

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event also featured Kevin Owens defeating Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, and Gunther in a #1 Contender Fatal Four-way match for the Undisputed WWE Championship.

As a result of his victory, Owens will be facing CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE title at a future show.

Baron Corbin Wins WWE U.S. Title

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event also featured Baron Corbin defeating Trick Williams to become the new WWE United States Champion.

This was Corbin’s second WWE United States Championship victory in his WWE career.

Chelsea Green Wins Interim WWE Women’s Title

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event also featured Chelsea Green defeating Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, and Lash Legend in a Ladder match to become the new Interim WWE Women’s Champion.

This was Green’s first-ever World title victory in her WWE career.

Chad Gable Wins WWE Intercontinental Title

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event also featured Chad Gable defeating Penta to become the new WWE Intercontinental Champion.

Following the match, Gable’s family came into the ring to celebrate. Gable gave a post-match speech stating that he is from Minneapolis and praised his family out for sticking by him. Gable then was handed a Mug root beer soda by the Mugs brand mascot and chugged them as Cole did an ad sponsor read to tie it all in.

This was Gable’s first ever WWE Intercontinental Championship victory and his first ever singles championship victory in his WWE career.

Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns Pays Tribute To Dean Ambrose During Their Match

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event also featured Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns paying tribute to the former third member of The Shield Dean Ambrose, also known as Jon Moxley in AEW.

During the WWE World Heavyweight Championship match between Rollins and Reigns, the two had an exchange of moves involving Rollins hitting the Wacky Line lariat that Moxley used during his time inWWE. Rollins then attempted to hit the Dirty Deeds to Roman who blocked it and hit the move to Rollins instead for a near fall.

While Michael Cole referenced Moxley by his former WWE ring name at first when Rollins hit the Wacky Line, he only refereed to him as the “third Shield member” afterwards for the tribute spots.
