Kevin Owens Comments on When He Was Cleared For In-Ring Return & Gives Shout Out To Rebel For Her Terminal ALS Battle

As noted before, Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota featured Kevin Owens making a surprise in-ring return to WWE for the first time since Februrary of 2025 due to a neck injury and surgery. Owens competed and was victorious in a #1 Contender Fatal Four-way match for the Undisputed WWE Championship at the event.

Following the event, WWE held a SummerSlam post-show featuring Owens as one of the guests. One of the topics discussed included Owens’ thoughts about when he was cleared for an in-ring return.

“There was a moment I thought it wasn’t gonna happen, and I definitely did not make peace with it. I was not ready. Getting this taken away from you when you’re not ready is hard. But I had such a great group of people around me to support me through it through it: my wife, my kids, my friends, the WWE medical staff, even you (Big E). I would talk to you a lot, but I was never okay with it. Up to a month ago I was like ‘This may be it’. We kept doing scans, it kept not showing what we were hoping for as far as the healing process from the surgery. Then I was like ‘Well maybe it’s not gonna happen.’ Then a couple of weeks ago and they said ‘We finally saw what we needed to see, you can get back in the ring.’ From there, here I am.”

Owens also gave a shout out to former TNA and current AEW talent Rebel, real name Tanea Brooks, in support of her current battle with terminal ALS.

“There’s somebody called Tanea Brooks, who’s known to wrestling fans as Rebel. She has not wrestled here but some things are bigger than wrestling. She’s currently battling ALS and the way she’s doing it is so incredible, and I looked at her and what she was going through and the way she powered through it and it was truly inspirational.”

Chelsea Green Dedicates Her Interim WWE Women’s Title Victory To Michael Hayes

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event in Minneapolis also featured Chelsea Green defeating Jade Cargill, Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, and Lash Legend in a Ladder match to become the new Interim WWE Women’s Champion.

WWE’s SummerSlam post-show also featured Green as the guest. One of the topics discussed included Green’s thoughts about her Interim title victory and her dedicating her victory to WWE producer Michael Hayes.

“Do you know what? I am gonna dedicate this title to Michael Hayes.”

Green’s comments were in reference to past comments Hayes had made in an episode of the WWE: Unreal docuseries on Netflix where he has stated that while Green is entertaining as a performer, she should not be in top star roles like Charlotte Flair or Tiffany Stratton currently in WWE. Hayes also stated that Green’s job in WWE is to help those top star talents.

Roman Reigns Comments on His History with Seth Rollins in WWE & Their Past History with Dean Ambrose

Sunday’s WWE SummerSlam 2026 Night 2 event in Minneapolis also featured Roman Reigns defeating Seth Rollins to retain the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. This match was notable for referencing Rollins and Reigns’ past together as members of The Shield and for the tribute spots to former Shield member Dean Ambrose, also known as Jon Moxley in AEW.

Following the event, WWE held a SummerSlam post-show featuring Reigns as one of the guests. One of the topics discussed included Reigns’ thoughts about his Shield fist bump to Rollins to close the story on their The Shield history.

“Well this is a complete full circle. This is where we close the loop. For it to happen here in Minnesota, this is where my football career ended and to be able to have this moment here, I’ve been saying it all day, God is a way better storyteller than all of us. This is a special moment for me.”

Reigns also gave his thoughts about what he had told Rollins during their match together about how he and Rollins always knew it was them who were going to change WWE and how they knew Ambrose was a “wild hair” of the group.

“‘It’s always been me and you. Since FCW, since The Red Rooster (Terry Taylor) was b*tching at us. It’s always been me and Seth. It’s always been the two of us. Even in The Shield, we already knew what it was. We knew (Dean) Ambrose was a wild hair but we knew we was the guys that was gonna change this place. We’re the pioneers of this place. When people left, when people was scared, when they ran off, we held the fort down.”
