Darby Allin on Progression of Steven Borden’s Wrestling Career, Him No Longer Using Uber For His Traveling and Wrestling Interviews, & Music He Was Listening To During His Mount Everest Climb

Adrian Hernandez held a recent interview with Darby Allin. One of the topics discussed included Allin’s thoughts about the progression of Sting’s son Steven Bordern’s wrestling career since his debut in October of 2025.

“He’s definitely thrown in the deep end. That’s for damn sure. Thrown in the deep end. We’re talking about someone who’s, I believe, he’s starting this game at 34 and he’s got big shoes to fill, but I don’t think he’s concerned with the shoes he has to fill more than what he wants to do

I don’t think he ever wanted to be a pro wrestler growing up. But the moment he was in Sting’s last match, splashing The (Young) Bucks and everything, I think it ignited something.

If he feels like he has to do this and he wants to do it and he’s so passionate, do it. Do it. Like screw everything that says like, ‘Oh, you’re starting too late,’ or whatever. Time will tell how he’s going to swim in the deep end of AEW.”

Allin also gave his thoughts about when he was watching AEW’s Grand Slam Mexico 2026 show from backstage, it made him wonder where Borden fits into the competitive landscape in the promotion.

“I was backstage watching Grand Slam Mexico last week before I went on and I thought to myself, damn, man. The bar is set so high. These matches are incredible. And I was like, ‘Where does he fit into that? Is he going to be able to swim?’. Time will tell. But he’s passionate enough, having two kids, to leave his job and start this thing, which is unknown. So, the passion’s there. But time will tell if he’s actually going to be able to swim in the deep end and I’d love to see it.”

Allin also gave his thoughts about how he is no longer using Uber to travel around and hold interviews in following an incident of him being kicked out of an Uber ride mid-interview this past February. Allin also confirmed that he has his own driver now for his traveling for shows.

“No more. Once that Uber kicked me out on the side of the highway and I was stranded — nope. We’re done.”

In a separate recent interview with Dr. Beau Hightower, Allin gave his thoughts about what music he was listening to during his climb of Mount Everest in 2025.

“When I climbed [Mount] Everest, all I listened to was country music.”
