Hechicero, Nigel McGuinness, & Kyle O’Reilly Advances in Continental Cup

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision show featured three First Round matches for the AEW Continental Challenge Cup tournament.

The first match was Hechicero defeating Brian Cage.

The second match was Nigel McGuinness defeating Katsuyori Shibata.

As a result of their victories, Hechicero, McGuinness, and O’Reilly advances to the next round of the Continental Challenge Cup tournament.

Tommaso Ciampa Declares for Men’s Casino Gauntlet at All In 2026

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision show also featured a video airing involving Tommasso Ciampa officially declaring himself for the Men’s Casino Gauntlet match at All In 2026 on August 30 at Wembley Stadium in London, England.

Ciampa also gave a warning to both Andrade El Idolo and MJF telling them that “if you believe in a God, pray that I’m not number three.”

McGuinness Suffers Injury & Continental Cup Status Uncertain

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision show also featured the announcement of Nigel McGuinness had suffered an undisclosed injury during his Continental Challenge Cup First Round match against Katsuyori Shibata.

AEW commentator Tony Schiavone stated that an announcement regarding McGuinness status for the Quarterfinals Round will be addressed during this Monday’s Continental Challenge Cup Selection Special show on AEW’s official YouTube channel.

Saturday’s taped AEW Collision show also featured several new matches announced for the card of next week’s AEW Dynamite show on August 19 at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena in Baltimore, Maryland.

Among the notable new matches announced was a Trios match of Will Ospreay & United Empire (HENARE & Francesco Akira) vs. Don Callis Family (Brian Cage, Rocky Romero, & Lance Archer).

This new match was setup following a backstage interview featuring Ospreay stating that he will be making a call to his United Empire friends in Japan to find two partners for his upcoming Trios match against the Don Callis Family at next week’s Dynamite show.
