AEW Reportedly Took $30 Million Loss for AEW Fight Forever Video Game Development & Future of AEW Video Games

AEW released their AEW Fight Forever video game in June of 2023, which to date has been the only major AEW-branded video game that has been released on consoles and PC. AEW’s Fight Forever video game received very mixed critical reviews and reception over issues that plagued the game that was developed by former WWE video game series developer Yuke’s. AEW CEO Tony Khan has stated during this past July’s AEW Redemption post-show media scrum that he has been interested in some time for a sequel to Fight Forever to be developed in the future.

Insider Gaming’s Mike Straw recently released a new video on his official YouTube channel revealing several new details regarding the development of the AEW Fight Forever video game.

Straw reported that his sources stated that AEW took on a “massive loss” of at least $30 million from the development of the game.

Straw also reported that part of the reason for the large cost was due to long delays for the game’s development and deadlines being missed by Yuke’s. Straw also reported that the game was originally planned to be released in 2022 but came out instead in summer of 2023.

Straw also reported that Fight Forever’s game sales were around half of what the initial expectations were for it.

Straw also reported that it is currently not known if there would be any further developments with Fight Forever due to AEW no longer having a deal with Yuke’s but he confirmed that AEW owns the game engine and could find another developer in the future.

In regards to a future sequel, Straw reported that AEW officials are interested in revisiting AEW branded video games “down the line.”

In regards to the rumors of AEW had talked to a third party about a potential licensing deal, Straw reported that those spoken to stated that they “didn’t f*cking know anything about it.”
