As noted before, Rebel, real name Tanea Brooks, was diagnosed with terminal ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) this past May. AEW has released a special “Rebel Heart” merchandise with 100% of the profits going to support those affected by ALS. Rebel became an ambassador for the I AM ALS organization this past June. AEW will be holding a special themed “Rebel Heart” episode of AEW Dynamite on September 9 in Athens, Georgia in honor of Rebel and to raise funds for the I AM ALS organization and Team Gleason.
In recent months, several AEW talents and personalities have been participating and challenging their co-workers to also participate in the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge in support of Rebel. Besides those from AEW, others from within the wrestling world have also participated in the challenge including Nattie, Tyson Kidd, Bayley, and Cody Rhodes from WWE, John Skyler from TNA, and Brodie Lee Jr.
Indies wrestler and Costco Guys’ Big Boom AJ recently participated in the challenge and posted a video on Instagram.
In his video, AJ accepted the challenge from AEW ring announcer Justin Roberts and nominated some of his friends.
