As noted before, this past Sunday’s WWE NXT Heatwave 2026 event in Edinburg, Texas featured Grayson Waller defeating Tony D’Angelo, Cruz Montana, and Zilla Fatu in a Fatal Four-way match to become the new NXT Champion.

NXT officials reportedly viewed Waller as being someone with a significant upside as being a top heel in their brand.
In regards to D’Angelo’s current status in NXT and potential main roster call-up plans, it was reported that those spoken to stated that WWE officials have not held any recent discussions for a main roster call-up for D’Angelo following his NXT title loss.
