Chelsea Green Gets Medically Cleared To Defend Her WWE Women’s Title

Friday’s taped WWE SmackDown featured WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green being officially medically cleared to defend her WWE Women’s Championship and remain as champion.

This was setup following an in-ring promo segment involving SmackDown GM Nick Aldis, a WWE doctor, and Green. The doctor announced that Green is still dealing with a broken orbital bone injury but he would clear her to wrestle and defend her title as long as she wears a protective face mask at all times as a condition.

This led to The Irresistible Forces (Nia Jax & Lash Legend) coming out and Jax demanding Aldis to give her a title match, which he eventually granted for next week’s show after Tiffany Stratton ran out to save Green.

Kyoki Makes SmackDown In-Ring Debut

Friday’s taped WWE SmackDown also featured Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura & Kyoki) making their official in-ring debut as a tag team in WWE.

Bakuasi faced off against The Miz & Kit Wilson in a tag team match, which was won by Bakusai.

This was also Kyoki, former Hiromu Takahashi in NJPW, official in-ring debut for WWE’s SmackDown brand.

Blake Monroe’s Main Roster In-Ring Debut Delayed Again

Friday’s taped WWE SmackDown show also featured Blake Monroe’s official in-ring debut for WWE’s main roster and SmackDown being delayed for the second time in a row.

Monroe had been scheduled to face off against Giulia in a singles match at the show only for the match to not take place after Giulia attacked Monroe before it could start. This led to WWE officials coming out to separate the two and the match being called off.

Monroe has yet to make her official main roster debut for WWE since her call-up from NXT this past April and her official debut on SmackDown this past June.

Current Card for Next Week’s Show

WWE announced four new matches for the card of next week’s show on September 11 at the CDMX Arena in Mexico City, Mexico.

Among the notable new matches announced was an Undisputed WWE Championship match of Sami Zayn vs. CM Punk (c).

This new match was setup following Zayn interfering in Punk’s title match against Johnny Gargano causing Kevin Owens, Gunther, and Kevin Owens to come out and also get involved. Following Punk’s victory, he grabbed a microphone and called out Zayn and told Zayn if he wanted a title match that badly then he will give him one next week in Mexico City.
