Backstage Update on WWE’s Decison To Not Air WWE x AAA Worlds Collide 2026 Live and Plans For Future Counterprogramming Shows Against AEW PPVs

As noted before, WWE recently announced that tonight’s WWE x AAA Worlds Collide 2026 event will not be airing live and instead will air on Wednesday, September 30th on their official YouTube channel. The broadcast status for this event had been uncertain in the weeks leading up to the show due to the lack of official announcements by WWE until very late.

Fightful Select reported that their sources stated that WWE’s decision to not broadcast their Worlds Collide event live was made in an effort to impact AEW’s All Out ticket sales in the Chicago area.

Those spoken to within WWE reportedly stated that AEW had sold better than they expected but they were still happy with Worlds Collide’s ticket sales.

It was also reported that WWE officials had made the decision in early August to withhold a live broadcast for their event.

The Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez reported that WWE holding a house show against an AEW pay-per-view event tonight is not the last time that this will happen. Alvarez reported that when, where, and broadcast ideas for these future counterprogram shows may vary depending on how this week goes.

In a follow-up report, Alvarez reported that his sources stated that WWE officials are currently expected to have at least one big name main roster star make an appearance when NXT goes head-to-head against AEW’s Grand Slam France show on Tuesday, October 6.
