Patron Lucha Libre Issues Statement on Arrest Of El Hijo de Fishman Over Death Of Referee El Búho at 10/7 Event In Mexico

SuperLuchas reported that Mexican lucha wrestler El Hijo de Fishman was arrested on Wednesday for his assault of referee Gerardo German Pineda, also known as El Búho, resulting in Pineda’s death.

It was reported that El Hijo de Fishman was competing in a match against Mascara Sagrada at an event for Patron Lucha Libre on early Wednesday morning in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo, Mexico.

During the match, Fishman gave a double underhook piledriver to Pineda that resulted in Pineda not getting up and the match being stopped. It was reported that when paramedics had arrived, Pineda did not have vital signs.

It was reported that Fishman was charged with manslaughter and he is currently facing the possibility of between five to fifteen years in prison if convicted on the charges against him. It was also reported that Fishman is currently scheduled for a court hearing in the next 48 hours to officially determine if he will be charged or be released.

Following Pineda’s passing and Fishman’s arrest, Patron Lucha Libre issued an official statement on the incident.

Given the unfortunate events that occurred during the early hours of this Wednesday, October 7, in Mineral de la Reforma, Hidalgo, during a wrestling event with the independent wrestler Hijo de Fishman and the referee Gerardo Germán Pineda, “El Búho”, who unfortunately lost his life, El Patrón Espectáculos informs:

The lawyer and legal representative of the company maintains contact with the family of Mr. Gerardo Germán Pineda, “El Búho”, and with his legal representatives, to handle the case in the best way and guarantee respect for all parties involved.
