Taichi vs. Gabe Kidd for IWGP Global Heavyweight Title Set for Power Struggle 2026

Monday’s NJPW King of Pro Wrestling 2026 event at the Kobe World Hall in Kobe, Japan featured the second of two new matches set for Power Struggle 2026, which takes place on November 3rd at the Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall in Hiroshima, Japan.

This new match setup was an IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship match of Taichi vs. Gabe Kidd (c).

This new match was setup following Kidd defeating Shota Umino to retain the IWGP Global Heavyweight title. Following the match, KIdd gave a profanity laced promo insulting Drilla Moloney, Umino, and New Japan. Kidd then challenged for anyone to come out to be his next challenger and when nobody came out, he continued with his insults mocking New Japan and the fans. Kidd then stated he was leaving and wouldn’t be back until Wrestle Kingdom 21. As Kidd was leaving to the back, Taichi came out to the ring. This led to Kidd getting back into the ring and engaged in a tense face-to-face standoff with Taichi. Kidd accepted Taichi’s challenge and revealed that it would be taking place at Power Struggle.

Kenny Omega Makes Surprise Appearance & Challenges Yota Tsuji for 3-Way Match at NJPW Power Struggle 2026

NJPW King of Pro Wrestling 2026 event also featured Kenny Omega making a surprise return appearance to New Japan.

Following Yota Tsuji’s victory over Ryohei Oiwa to retain the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, the lights went out to interrupt Yota’s speech and a video aired on the big screen showing Omega. Omega talked about his issues with Tsuji not wanting to defend his title overseas and brought up how that title he holds is an international title. Omega also talked about Tsuji’s past comments about not wanting to be involved with Forbidden Door or show up in AEW. Omega then challenged Tsuji for his title and stated that he would go back to Japan to make it happen.

After the video ended, Tsuji grabbed the microphone and accepted Omega’s challenge on the condition that Omega came to Japan for the belt. This led to Boltin Oleg coming out to tease his own challenge for Tsuji only for Omega to run out and attacked both of them and laid each one out. After hitting a One Winged Angel to Tsuji, Omega grabbed the microphone and stated his challenge again for the title.

Omega then left and headed backstage to give some comments to the press. Omega clarified his challenge stating that instead of just him against Tsuji, their match should be a three-way involving Oleg at Power Struggle. Omega stated that he would be fine if it was a non-title match but if he wins, then he wants a shot at Tsuji’s title.
