As noted before, Leon Slater’s contract with TNA Wrestling is currently believed to be expiring at some point this Fall. This past Sunday’s TNA Bound For Glory 2026 event in Tampa, Florida featured Slater defeating Nic Nemeth to become the new TNA World Champion for the first time in his TNA career.
PWInsider’s Mike Johnson reported that his sources stated that there are already some people within WWE who are waiting to see what happens with Slater due to the belief that his contract with TNA was set to expire at the end of 2026.
Those same people within WWE reportedly are currently curious if Slater will do what Cruz Montana, former Mike Santana in TNA, did in regards to him extending his contract for a few months in order to have a run on top and gain more experience before shifting to their NXT brand. Those same people reportedly are also curious if Slater will quickly drop the TNA World title instead.
Johnson reported that there are many within WWE who have expected Slater to make his way to NXT for some time.
