Following the “attack” from Kane at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view, WWE posted a storyline update on Zack Ryder. They say that Ryder was rushed to a nearby St. Louis trauma center. WWE’s Dr. Chris Amann said the following:
“The most worrisome aspect of that move [the tombstone piledriver] is a compression force to the cervical spine that does have the potential to fracture several vertebrae and render serious injury.”
“We’ve taken him to the hospital as a precautionary measure, at which point in time we’ll get cervical spine X-rays and most likely a CAT scan to make sure that’s there’s been no significant damage.”
