— The Rock has signed on to star in Brett Ratner’s Hercules. Variety reports that MGM has confirmed the news, with the film adapted by Ryan Condal from Steve Moore’s 2008 graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian War. The source comic takes place in barbarian Thrace rather than Greece and follows Hercules training the Thracian army under the command of the country’s king. Production is scheduled for October in New Zealand.
