Rumors that Fedor Emelianenko may take Alistair Overeem’s slot at UFC 146 were more or less squashed today. M-1 Director of Operations Evgeni Kogan announced today that Fedor will be fighting an as-yet unannounced opponent on June 21st at a currently-unspecified event. Sources close to the situation say that Fedor’s opponent could well be former WWE and TNA star Bobby Lashley, who is under consideration for the fight.
Fedor was brought up as a possible replacement for Overeem after he tested positive for elevated testosterone this week, but a June 21st fight would make the UFC 146 main event, which will take place May 26, more or less impossible.
