Dany Garcia, The Rock’s ex-wife and business partner, is being sued by a Florida family for fraud. The family claims that they were “bilked out of more than $1.8 million as part of an ongoing fraud scheme.” Garcia was named as a co-conspirator who benefited from the alleged fraud.
The Rock has not been named as a defendant in the suit.
According to the lawsuit, Dany and her management company were to invest millions of dollars from wrongful death benefits. The family claims that “they never received payment on their investments even after repeated attempts to contact (Dany).”
Garcia’s attorney is denying the allegations and wants the suit thrown out. Their defense is that the investment dried up during the economic downturn in 2010. “When the bubble burst, they suddenly decide to call it a fraud.”
