» Almost everyone in TNA was watching the Gina Carano vs. Cyborg female MMA fight on Showtime presented by Strikeforce a few weeks ago the day before TNA’s Hard Justice PPV. The hotel that all of the TNA talent stay at has Showtime, so it was definitely the topic of discussion the next day at the PPV event at the Impact Zone. Jim Cornette in particular was talking about it and noted how watching MMA has given him so many new types of finishes that have never been used before in pro wrestling. He was said to be so inspired that he is already compiling a book of new finishes. A majority of the discussion focused on how well the fight was presented by Strikeforce and how it can related to future business for both women in MMA and pro wrestling. While this doesn’t appear to have any chance of happening, there was talk of how great Carano could be used in pro wrestling and more specifically in TNA if she was to ever work for the company.
» UFC fighter Nate Marquardt, who has trained with Bobby Lashley, didn’t have the best things to say about him in a recent interview with Jonathan Snowden. Marquardt added, “I train with two of the best heavyweights in the world, Shane Carwin and Brendan Schaub (a member of the next season of The Ultimate Fighter). And he’s not anywhere near them. I’ve trained with Bobby a couple of times and for some reason he doesn’t have a loyalty to our team. I’ve kind of written him off. I’m loyal to my guys.”
» As part of their new three-year contract with Spike, TNA is not exclusive to them. Considering Spike didn’t pick up any additional series in their new deal, TNA is free to shop around new television shows to other television networks. There has been talk of creating separate shows on the Knockouts and X Division, as well as a series similar to the online talk show The Spin Cycle where talent discuss current affairs and wrestling.
