Report: The WWE Intercontinental Cup Cancelled

The WWE Intercontinental Cup will not begin on this week’s WWE Main Event as advertised. Matches taped for Main Event were Tensai vs. Titus O’Neil and Ryback vs. Antonio Cesaro. Wade Barrett tweeted that he will be making a “huge announcement” regarding the Intercontinental Cup soon.

UPDATE: WWE Intercontinental Champion Wade Barrett posted the following on Twitter today…

“I am pleased to announce that I have managed to negotiate a complete cancellation of the Intercontinental Cup tournament .I think you’ll all agree that this is fantastic news. Warm regards, Your Intercontinental Champion.”
