To follow up on an earlier report regarding WWE reaching out to former Divas to get them back on the roster, we can now confirm that Beth Phoenix, Maryse and Kelly Kelly were offered spots in a match at WrestleMania 29. The company knows that there is a major lack of depth with the current division.
We’re told all three didn’t turn down WWE’s offer, but rather Maryse and Kelly Kelly countered in negotiations regarding money. WWE officials didn’t take kindly to that. It should be also noted that WWE reached out to former Diva and current ROH talent Maria Kanellis about a possible return. She denied the offer. Kanellis is engaged to be married to ROH star Mike Bennett. In an update on Bennett, he had a WWE tryout several months ago but hasn’t heard back as of this writing. If Bennett were to sign a WWE deal, you’d likely see Maria join him in WWE.
