— At Saturday night’s UFC 160 post event press conference, Dana White announced that Ultimate Fighter season one winner Forrest Griffin was retiring from MMA. White honored Griffin, a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, with a speech before the presser started, and the company showed a highlight video of his career to those in attendance. Griffin stated the following to the press in attendance…
“When Dana says you should retire, you should retire, otherwise you’ll blow your knee out before your next fight.”
Griffin retires with a 19-7 record, and White announced that Griffin will be staying with the UFC in an unannounced position. Griffin took some questions, and noted that he has had to pull out of two of his last three fights, which was a big part of the decision. He added that he wants to be a better person, and will work with the UFC in their charitable efforts.
