“Big Daddy” Rog Cox, who promoted in Dayton, Ohio under Unified Championship Wrestling died yesterday at the age of 42. He had been sick for some time and was undergoing dialysis. He was a part-time wrestler in the Dayton area who, while not considered good in the ring was liked by a lot of the wrestlers in the area. He wanted new wrestlers to work for him because he was “living his dream” and wanted others to have that experience.
He was the promoter who booked Kassus Ohno (Chris Hero) on his first official independent booking. He also used CZW talents Irish Airborne at their first events. He worked for Atlas Security when ECW ran the Mid-West and used the connections to bring in Tommy Dreamer, Sabu and Francine to work his events.
A lot of people in the Mid-West area were saddened by his passing. We would like to give our condolences to his friends, family and fans.
