— Michael Cole and Booker T’s wife Sharmell gave brief speeches at the Booker T Day presentation yesterday in Houston, Texas prior to last night’s SmackDown taping. There were about 250 fans in attendance at the ceremony, as well as members of Booker’s family and his wrestling students. Booker gave a really nice speech thanking everyone for their support. WWE filmed the ceremony.
— Starting on August 5th, ESPN Classic will begin airing episodes of the Global Wrestling Federation. The promotion ran in the early 90s, and the roster included The Patriot, Jerry Lynn, Sean Waltman, Mick Foley, Terry Gordy, Booker T, Stevie Ray, a young Buff Bagwell and more.
ESPN Classic will run a marathon on August 5th and will then continue to air episodes like they do for the UWF and AWA. Like the UWF and AWA, ESPN has the rights to re-broadcast the videos due to their original deal with the promotion.
