The co-owner and CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), Lorenzo Fertitta, admitted during a recent interview with Fighters Only Magazine that the UFC originally modeled their product on the live event and business structure used by WWE. Fertitta noted, however, that UFC will be changing to be modeled after The Discovery Channel.
“You’re going to see a transformation in our business going historically from where we’ve been operating like an events company. We’re going to transform into a true global media company in the sense that we are really the only entity out there who produces and controls the content,” said Fertitta.
