WWE is no longer billing Kofi Kingston from Jamaica because they wanted to market him without the stereotypical accent as the feeling was it was limiting his on-screen character. Instead, they are now billing the Raw Superstar from Ghana, West Africa, where he was actually born. Although it should be noted his family moved to the United States when he was a one year old and he grew up in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He revealed in an interview last year that his parents weren’t enamored with him being billed from Jamaica and doing the accent either.
