For those wondering, WWE did not choose to release Richie Steamboat just before the holidays. He was actually released from the company some time ago under the radar. He had been out of action for a long time due to a back injury.
As noted earlier today here on the website, Chris Hero was the one who revealed the news that WWE released NXT star Richie Steamboat during an interview. Steamboat had back surgery late last year and there have been rumors that he might not be able to wrestle again.
