Michelle Beadle appeared on Jim Ross’ podcast this week and talked about her run-in with AJ Lee at the Tribute to the Troops taping last year, which made headlines. If you recall the incident, Lee reportedly blew up at Beadle after she said something to CM Punk that AJ thought was disrespectful.
Beadle says on the podcast that she thought Punk was a friend but was apparently wrong. She recalls that she saw him backstage at the show and said “What up F*** face?,” intending it in a humorous way. She says he was alone at the time and she was with WWE’s PR people, but the next thing she knew AJ was in front of her yelling in her face. Beadle said she thought it was a rib and looked over to Punk to see what he though, but he kept his back to her. She notes that WWE officials apologized to her and that she and Punk stopped being friends that day.
She added, “Phil was one of those cool guys that didn’t fall into a certain role and kind of did what he wanted but to watch all of that happen and have someone tattle on me and have their girlfriend get in my face is a little pathetic. It’s okay, I’ve moved on.”
When asked whether she was surprised that Punk left WWE she said no, but that she was shocked he hasn’t returned yet. She expected him to appear at WrestleMania and as a WWE fan, she misses his TV character.
