Welcome back to TPWW.net for the Thursday, July 6 edition of the news and rumors. Hopefully everyone in the US had an enjoyable Fourth of July. With that said, here is today's early morning edition of the TPWW news and rumors.
The odds of Scott Hall returning to WCW television have increased, according to Dave Meltzer. However, that still doesn't necessarily mean that the chances of Hall returning to TV are good. In fact, Wednesday's Thunder broadcast made hardly any mention of Scott Hall other than the occasional Bash at the Beach promo commercials, which mentioned Hall's contract would be on the line. Actually, neither Goldberg or Nash were on Wednesday's show either, with WCW using "they were told not to come to tonight's show due to their altercation on Nitro" as an excuse. Personally, Scott Hall is one of my all time favorites in WCW and I would love to have him back on television. Unfortunately, bringing Hall back doesn't seem too easy, as there are a lot of things to deal with before he can return, one of which being a neck injury that he is still suffering from at the hands of a Sid powerbomb a few months ago.
Hulk Hogan reportedly had a major political screw up recently. Alec Jarvis sent along the story... Hey, just something interesting I noticed while perusing through the newspaper this morning. There is an article called "Hulk ad campaign flawed" which says "Clearwater -- A political advertising campaign using wrestler Hulk Hogan to pitch a development project to the people of Clearwater: Hogan resides outside the city limits and isn't eligible to vote in the referendum on the plan. Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, tells viewers in the ads how the $300 million downtown revitilization plan, which faces a do-or-die referendum vote on Tuesday, would create 2,000 jobs and mean $3 million to the 20 area's schools. 'That's why I'm voting "yes" . . . I hope you will too,' says Hogan, who has voted just once since registering in 1993. It turns out Hogan lives about a block south of Clearwater city limits, even though he says in the commercial, 'My family and I have made Clearwater our home for more than 12 years.' Ed Armstrong, a lawyer and chairman of the Clearwater Regional Chamber of Commerce, said the commercial was an honest mistake." Seems Hogan will do anything for money these days...
Buff Bagwell didn't make his scheduled appearance on Nitro due to transportation problems, according to WCW Live.
The USA Network has apparently filed an appeal for the court decision against the USA Network, bringing World Wrestling Federation programming to Viacom owned TNN and MTV networks, according to a recent statement on the WWF's website, WWF.com. As of now, not many details are available except for the fact that USA has appealed the decision.
The tables have turned, so to speak, against the Parents Television Council, as advertisers have begun to pull away from them due to the PTC promoting censorship, which they in fact do. The latest ad company to pull away from the PTC is Omaha Steaks, according to Buck Woodward. Omaha Steaks joins Toys R' Us and Hickory Farms as companies who have removed (or have had removed) their sponsorship of the PTC. I believe that the PTC pulled away their Toys R' Us sponsorship after being informed that it was selling WWF merchandise. As if they didn't already know.
WWF.com is encouraging fans to vote for Wyclef Jean's video "It Doesn't Matter" featuring The Rock on MTV's TRL. You can vote by clicking HERE. The video was a "close call" on yesterday's TRL show, meaning it was just out of the top ten countdown, which actually says a lot about the video.
The Undertaker will be on WWF.com's "Byte This!" tonight from 6-7PM EST. You can call in with your questions or comments at 1-888-LIVEWWF (548-3993) or send an e-mail to bytethis@wwf.com. You can check out the Byte This! page HERE.
Tori will undergo surgery on her separated shoulder very soon. She will reportedly be out of action for about two months.
The WWF announced this Monday that Orlando, FL is the next city to be awarded an XFL team. When are they going to announce New York, already? And hey, the New York team better not suck either.
WWF.com announced that the Big Show taped an episode of the Cindy Margolis show yesterday in South Beach, Florida. The show will debut syndicated sometime this fall.
Here are the matches you can expect for tonight's WWF Smackdown! program. If you'd rather not know, simply skip on to the next paragraph. From what I've read, this show was a great one and should come off great on TV.

Adam Crawley sent this along: "Monday on Angelo & Company, a local cable sports talk show in Philadelphia, they did a huge show on pro wrestling, but offered very little insight. Wrestling is fake, but it's beating Monday Night Football, blah blah blah... The only interesting segment came when The Rock's college roommate came on. He was critical of The Great One's football skills, saying that he was slow off the ball, that's why he never started at Miami. He also noted that Rocky's college nickname was "Dewey" short for Dwayne."

The newest addition to TPWW, "3rd Man in the Ring" by "The Ref" Efren Bojorquez has debuted. It's a great column and I encourage everyone to check it out. I'm definitely excited about it.
