Yo yo yo, let me start off by saying thanks to everyone that sent in their feedback on my first news and rumors here on TPWW. I did reply to each and every one of them. I will try to do around two or so updates per week, but remember, I said try :) I also own a web site, WrestleView.com <--Cheap Plug -:) and have to run it and with other stuff going on, my time is pretty much limited.
Well let's start off with WWF Raw... What is there to say about this week's Raw? Horrible is a nice word. We didn't even have a main event, all we had was a Rock/Austin segment that lasted like 15 minutes. I do admit, some small parts were funny, but the whole segment was pointless. The WWF gained absolutely NOTHING from this segment. There was no benefit, no reason, no nothing for putting such a stupid segment... and the WWF wonders why the ratings are so low. Go figure?!?!
Another thing that's been bugging me and I am sure it has been bugging a lot of people, it's the way the Rock applies the sharpshooter. In the words of Hurricane Helms "What's Up Wit Dat?" It is without a doubt the worst sharpshooter I have seen applied in the history of wrestling. The move use to mean something, but now he's making it look bad. Well I don't necessarily blame him only, I'd blame the creative team. Bottom line, if you suck at applying a wrestling move, don't do it!
After watching Raw, people would assume the ratings probably dropped, well that wasn't the case this week. RAW went up by 0.1 from last week. WWF RAW scored a 4.1 rating and did hours of 4.0 and 4.2
Speaking of ratings, the Weakest Link, which featured WWF superstars this past Monday, scored a 7.8 rating on NBC.
Well, as many of you heard by now, Eddie Guerrero was released by the World Wrestling Federation a couple of days ago. The reason of his release was because of his drinking and driving arrest that happened last week.
I have received several e-mails from people asking me about Sting and Bill Goldberg, and if they will go to the WWF. Let's start off with Sting. For some of you, this might be old news, and for some of you, you might be reading this for the first time. Sting has made it clear that he doesn't want to continue wrestling anymore. He wants to spend time with his family and doesn't want to go full-time on the road. He will sit out of the remainder of his AOL/Time Warner contract.
As for Goldberg, yesterday morning, he was on a radio station in Atlanta (WNNX). Basically, don't count on seeing Goldberg in the WWF anytime in the near future. Goldberg said he would feel like a hypocrite if he were to sign with the WWF because he doesn't like some of the adult stuff the WWF does.
The WWF and Microsoft have reached partnership agreement for advertising and promotion. As you know, Xbox is coming out tomorrow and the WWF will start airing advertisements about Xbox on their TV shows, their PPVs, and their online assets. The agreement runs through March 2002.
1Wrestling.com reports that Hulk Hogan wrestled Curt Hennig at the XWF TV Taping this past week. Bobby Heenan was brought in as Hennig's agent and Heenan made it clear that he was not a manager, only an agent. By the way, Hulk Hogan won that match.
Torrie Wilson was on The Howard Stern Radio Show Thursday morning with DDP. Torrie stated that she and Billy Kidman are engaged to be married. The engagement took place this past Tuesday.
During Mick Foley's interview on RAW, he stated that two weeks ago, WWF RAW was held in Long Island, NY (his home town) and he said he came to the show and was told that he will not be needed on television for that night. That was in fact true. Foley came to the arena that night and was told by one of the WWF writers that he will not be used on TV. Mick left and went home. Foley's interview on RAW was scheduled to be his last. Mick Foley and Vince McMahon agreed to part company from a business stand point. Either something will happen on Monday so the WWF can write Foley out of their storylines, or he can just leave with no explanation.
Let me just comment on Foley's interview. Even though it was scripted and everything, I still agree with what was said about the belts. "Who doesn't have a belt these days?" Belts use to mean something, the WWF championship would switch hands like twice a year, or sometimes once a year and it had some credibility to it. Keyword "HAD" Nowadays, belts change hands on practicly every PPV. But with the current WWF direction and storylines, I guess they have to do that? I don't know!
Dave Meltzer is reporting that the WWF is in serious negotiations with Ric Flair. This Monday's RAW is in Charlotte North Carolina, which is Ric Flair's home town. If the WWF really wants Flair, they can get him. Ric Flair is still under Time Warner contract, meaning the WWF needs to work out a deal with Time Warner. I find this the way for the WWF to bring in Ric Flair, to be able to replace Mick Foley. But nothing is confirmed yet.
Anyways, that's all for today. Any comments or questions can go to PaulNemer@tpww.net. Thanks for reading.
