-- Thanks to reader Mark Pickering for the following report of 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin on BBC Radio 5 Live:
Austin was indeed snoozing in the waiting room.
Explained how WWF became WWE.
Austin discussed the WCW V WWF war. Recognized WCW did have their moments before "they went to hell".
The presenter reads out an e-mail discussing the recent deaths in the business and asks whether WWE are doing enough.
"WWE just provides a place of employment, what people want to do in their own personal lives is up to them"
On the schedule:
"It's hard, we go out there on the road many days of the month"
On wrestling again:
"We're gunna see, never say never, I think I've got a match or two left in me. Maybe after WM, lets play it by here and see what happens."
On the recent racism angles:
"Sometimes I look at what's going on and shake my head. It's about the wrestling. Wrestling is a simple formula."
Presenter: Who comes up with the storylines?
"Team of writers - I'm not aboard on that capacity, I give my thoughts and sometimes it falls on dead ears."
On the broken neck injury sustained while competing against the late Owen Hart:
"When he [Austin] landed on his head he knew something was wrong - couldn't move anything. Look at ref told him not to touch him, he couldn't move."
On his injuries
"Could I wrestle - yeah. The injuries they don't go away. Some of the neurological damage, it'll never get better, it's stuff I've got to keep an eye on."
On working in films
"I got sent a script recently, read it, liked it, now going to speak to Vince see if I can get time off to do it."
On British wrestling:
"From what I've seen (names Regal and Fit Finlay), technically, mechanically guys coming out of UK are better than in the US."
Advice to caller:
"Don't do the crazy stuff, the high flying, learn to wrestle."
On the 'high flying':
"High flying stuff isn't for me - I tore bicep two years ago in Japan. Look at the guys who've sold the most tickets in wrestling, none of them are high flyers, they all stick to the ground."
On the brand split:
"I wish brands were still together, but Vince is a different man."
Unification?:
"Can't see a unification match for titles."
On marriage:
"It isn't for me."
