Chavo Guerrero defeated Ultimo Dragon.

WWE SmackDown Tapings (to air 3/18/04):

The show started with the new WWE United States Champion John Cena coming to the ring. Cena put over his roots in Boston and his title win over Big Show at WrestleMania XX. Cena ripped on the FCC as well. Paul Heyman came out and announced that Brock Lesnar left the WWE, blaming it on the SmackDown roster for abandoning him last week when Steve Austin showed up. Heymam mentioned the Draft Lottery next week on RAW and eventually got in Cena's face. Heyman slapped Cena and Cena attempted to take out Heyman, but Rhyno hit the ring. This led to...

John Cena defeated Rhyno.

The promo hyping Edge's return to the WWE was shown.

Backstage, Heyman is walking past the APA when they begin to mock him. Heyman brings up how last week they promised loyalty to the SmackDown brand, but abandoned Brock Lesnar and took the side of Steve Austin. Heyman told them that they would be getting a shot at the WWE Tag Team Titles tonight against Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty. Heyman also added that if they didn't win, they would be fired.

Rikishi & Scotty 2 Hotty defeated The APA to retain WWE Tag Team Titles.

After the match, the APA challenged Paul Heyman to fire them backstage. Heyman mentioned how he didn't specifically say he would fire the APA. Heyman instead fired Faarooq. The APA starts to argue with Heyman and Heyman tells Bradshaw that he has a successful book, appears on talks shows giving financial advice and basically doesn't need to keep carrying Faarooq. Faarooq walked out leaving Bradshaw alone.

Backstage, Dawn Marie tells Billy Gunn, Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas and Rey Mysterio that Paul Heyman would be with them in a moment. Heyman came in and informed them that a series of Gauntlet Matches would be taking place tonight with the winner facing Eddie Guerrero later in the night for the WWE Championship. Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin warn Heyman that unlike the APA, he can't play "divide and conquer" with them. Heyman told them they would be facing each other first to start the guantlet.

Shelton Benjamin defeated Charlie Haas in the Gauntlet.

Backstage, Bradshaw stopped Faarooq as he was leaving the building. Bradshaw tried to explain that it was just business and that he still wanted to be friends. Faarooq didn't care and left.

Shelton Benjamin defeated Billy Gunn in the Gauntlet.

Rey Mysterio defeated Shelton Benjamin in the Gauntlet.

Rey Mysterio defeated Big Show via countout in the Gauntlet to earn a shot at the WWE Championship (John Cena came to ringside during the match and struck Big Show with the US Title to cause the finish).

Eddie Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio to retain WWE Championship (said to be a great match).

Paul Heyman came out and said that he had hopes both Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio get removed from the SmackDown brand next week in the Draft Lottery. Heyman made a joke saying that English has become the second language on SmackDown. Heyman said he will do what he wants and he doesn't care who tries to stop him.

As Heyman finished speaking, The Undertaker's gong hit. The Undertaker came to the ring with Paul Bearer. Both Guerrero and Mysterio shoved Heyman into Undertaker. The Undertaker grabbed Heyman and gave him the Tombstone Piledriver to end the show.
