Mel Karmazin, who was the President and COO of Viacom and UPN, stepped down from the company today and resigned. Howard Stern touched a bit on this subject today explaining how Karmazin was a patriarch for his show and gave him some leeway on his bits which may have pushed the envelope. From what we're told Karmazin did the same with WWE and Vince McMahon with angles such as Triple H's simulating sex with a corpse, D-generation-X's madness, Stone Cold Steve Austin's beer chugging and middle finger flipping, The Rock's pie eating and boot shining phrases, and of course a lot more. You may think this isn't really edgy material now, but when these things first started out you can believe Karmazin got a lot of heat from the FCC over it, but never stopped Vince McMahon from doing it.
