Exclusive Comments from Amy Weber camp; interview via Ben Johnson of HeadlinePlanet.com
In the most memorable segment, according to those inside and outside of WWE, of the competition thus far, WWE allowed the RAW Diva Search Contestants to "diss" one another on Monday's edition of WWE RAW. WWE did not script the contestants' responses, and consequently, could not censor all of the lude remarks that flowed during the segment.
Answering a call placed into the Amy Weber camp regarding the segment, a representative speaking on behalf of Amy told this reporter that the diva had no regrets for what was said on the telecast and does not feel any lines were crossed:
"Please bear in mind, that the E in WWE is entertainment and that the natural course of the segments challenge would allow and possibly solicit that kind of response. The crowd reactions have been a lot stronger for Amy and for her confrontations with Carmella. Amy is a trained professional and naturally responds to what the viewers are responding to. The girls were made aware that there would be a time delay for bleeps if they would accidentally said the wrong thing....The backstage reality will inevitably translate into promos of this nature. Lying about someone's professional career and not honoring the privacy of an individual by mentioning a person's family and children in a promo would seem to me a much greater line that has been crossed."
Although the "reality show" opinion is that Carmella DeCesare is being portrayed as a victim and consequently scoring sympathy votes, Amy and the other divas do not agree and are not worried about saying things that may further victimize the Playmate of the Year.
In fact, the Amy camp doesn't even believe Carmella's suffering any vicious attacks, "The girls aren't so much viciously attacking as responding to Carmella's unprofessional and unprovoked behavior backstage. There have been a lot of incidents instigated by Carmella but that's a far as I'm going to go with that."
While Amy, Christy and Joy made references to Carmella's "sleeping around," Carmella went a different route with Amy, attacking her on the basis of a Playboy shoot. Carmella let fans know that while she's the Playmate of the Year, Amy Weber was laughed at by Playboy executives during a tryout. Amy Weber completely denies that claim:
"Amy has done a few covers for Playboy that have generated record sales for the company. Due to the success of those covers she has been offered, on numerous occasions over the years, to do a spread. She has turned each of those offers down. Doing a nude spread for the magazine is not of interest to Amy and has never been an issue." A cover featuring Amy on a past issue of Playboy's Bathing Beauties was submitted as evidence. It has been placed online for your perusal.
Despite some very candid remarks from the other divas, representatives for Amy felt that Carmella's comments were absolutely without justification.
When asked what Amy wants fans to take away from the segment, the response was, "She has many dimensions and will do whatever the segments call for. She's been sweet, sexy and tough. If the fans want her to eat pie, then she'll eat the pie. If the segment calls for Dissing the Diva. Well...she's just going to have to diss someone then. She treats each segment with as much enthusiasm as the last. Her goal is to entertain as best she can within whatever the parameters of the segments call for."
