Exclusive comments with Diva Contestant Christy Hemme provided by Ben Johnson of HeadlinePlanet.com.
Obviously noticing the controversy surrounding the "Diss The Diva" segment on this week's WWE RAW, Diva Search contestant Christy Hemme contacted this reporter to discuss the segment and offer some thoughts. Like Amy Weber in a discussion earlier in the day, Hemme was not regretful about her comments, although did express concern over offending WWE fans:
"I would never want to offend anyone, especially the fans. This is their show and the segment was meant to make for really great TV."
Hemme, known for her outrageous antics throughout the competition, does not regret anything she's done, especially her comments last night. However, she did still reach out to her dad about calling Carmella a gutterslut, since she felt bad. While her father instructed her not to make such a comment again, he understood that she was just doing things "WWE style."
Christy, on the other hand, still needed some reassurance. She was "sick to her stomach" after the harsh exchange of profanity between the four remaining divas. "In reality I like all the girls, but I knew that they were testing us to see if we could be aggressive on the mic and I had to stick to the task." Nonetheless, the diva tells this reporter that the entire backstage area was excited and shocked by the segment, and her family and friends called her with their support of the "Diva passion" she showed. Everyone was also proud of Christy's "suicide" (the leg-lift into split) that she performed as her time expired, since it showed that she's willing to take risks for WWE.
Back to the subject of Carmella, while some divas have denied the claim that their attacks against Carmella might be increasing her fanbase out of sympathy, Christy is totally aware of the risk involved with her comments:
"It probably is helping her out. but I've said it before and I will say it again: I really want someone to win that sincerely wants to be part of WWE. The fans deserve it!"
Of course, this reporter could not help but ask Christy to justify why fans should believe that the other three divas "want" the prize, especially when none have a background in wrestling, nor did they express interest in employment before the $250,000 prize was put on the table. Hemme quickly justified her interest, though, "I have wanted to be a Diva for years. I feel extremely blessed that this opportunity has come into my life and I really want to express how much I appreciate everyone that has supported me."
Christy also condemned Carmella's remarks about Joy being a bad role model for her children:
"Joy is a wonderful mom. If anyone could hear her speak to her kids over the phone the way I have, they would know instantly how much she adores her kids."
Although Carmella laced into Joy's parenting skills and insulted Amy for being laughed at by Playboy, even though Amy provided proof to dispute the claim, the 2004 Playmate of the Year was supportive of Christy, and endorsed her in front of the four million RAW fans. At the time, Christy did not accept the praise and referred to Carmella as a suck-up, but is now prepared to thank Carmell for the gesture:
"I like Carmella and it was very sweet of her to say that to me, but I was still going to follow through with the task [and diss her], while continuing being friends backstage."
And, yet, when asked who Christy would endorse if she's eliminated this week, Christy conveniently left out Carmella when throwing support behind Amy and Joy.
Known as "that crazy redhead," Christy tells this reporter, "I want to be able to look back and think 'I didn't hold back and wasn't afraid to put myself out there, whether they like me or not.'"
Despite a report sent out by WWE, Christy had not heard anything about the Diva Search being extended, although hopes to work for WWE, regardless of whether she wins or not.
