A little while back, Paul Heyman attempted to have a trade done between RAW & Smackdown, bringing Chris Benoit over to SD and Kurt Angle to RAW. The main reason for Heyman wanting to do this, is that he wanted to break the backstage political base between Angle and The Undertaker.
If the trade would have went through, we would have seen Kurt Angle working a program on RAW against Shawn Michaels, leading up to Wrestle Mania. There was also talks of possibilities between Kurt Angle and Evolution. Mainly, Ric Flair and HHH.
On the Smackdown side, we would have seen Benoit come in as the heel, and feud with The Undertaker to lead up to a big match at Wrestle Mania.
The suggestion for the trade was turned down by WWE.
Most of the wrestlers in WWE want Paul Heyman to be given the head booker position on Smackdown, however WWE apparently finds him hard to deal with, and in the past when WWE had to contact him, he wasn't available. Lately, Heyman has been making sure his backstage allies haven't been forgotten in the booking process, such as Big Show, Eddie Guerrero, Rob Van Dam, Rey Mysterio, Booker T, and Carlito.
