Update on Hardy/Lita/Edge situation on Raw last night

By Jesse Suchanek on March 8, 2005 at 11:58 AM EST

-Matt Hardy, who was driving distance from Raw and planned to attend the show to see friends, was asked by management to not visit the arena. Management wanted emotions to cool off, and since Lita and Edge were both written into the show and Matt was not, it made sense to ask him to stay away. He did not appear per their request.

-Lita and Edge were part of meetings with members of management to discuss the situation and figure out how to avoid the personal controversy from affecting the backstage workplace at a time when everyone wants to have a clear smooth path to WrestleMania.

-The Lita-Edge-Hardy situation was the talk of both locker rooms last night, as people at Smackdown were on the cell phones getting updates from people at Raw regarding what was going on. While there was a hush-hush tone to the weekend house shows, it was open season to discuss it by last night.

-There was no overt and obvious shunning of Edge or Lita backstage, but there was said to be an obvious awkwardness that followed them wherever they went backstage and they were obviously less relaxed than usual as a result. The pulse of the locker room at this point is sympathetic to Matt Hardy, who is well-liked and popular among his peers and had a stellar reputation as a loyal, kind boyfriend in a business that is known for volatile relationships.

Wow, guys from Smackdown calling to get updates on the situation during Raw? This is just a breakup right, we didn't just discover a 10th planet or anything too, did we?

By the way, did anyone else want to see Hardy jump the baricade and destory Edge last night during his match?
