There were reportedly some meetings that took place this past week at WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut regarding the scheduled "ECW One Night Stand" PPV on June 12 in New York City, NY at the Hammerstein Ballroom. In a move that I'm sure many will enjoy to hear, WWE officials are wanting to find a balance between talent that can still work and put on a fast pace style of match that the ECW audience was accustomed to and older talent that can't do so physically. The plan is to book older talent in a fashion where they can still get a postive audience reaction by being booked properly and not exposing their obvious flaws.
It should also be noted that WWE officials have talked about how they don't want the show to appear as a "night of nostalgia, but rather stand on its own as a solid night of wrestling and entertainment. From what is understood, if the PPV ends up drawing a strong buyrate then WWE would be open to the idea of running more shows down the line that would include House Show tours in old ECW markets. As noted since the rumors began regarding the PPV, the high sales of "The Rise & Fall of ECW" DVD (which is on its way to becoming the highest selling WWE DVD of all time) is what paved the way for the event and if this show does well we could easily see more done with the ECW name.
Well this is nice to here. Let's hope it comes true.
