As you probably could have guessed, the word coming out of RAW last night in Tampa was that the McMahon's were not happy at all with Spike TV running commercials for TNA hyping the company's debut on the network starting October 1st at 11 p.m. in the timeslot originally held by WWE Velocity. Although the McMahon's were upset, they were said to have understood why Spike did it to help build programming once WWE leaves for the USA Network in October. Despite this, the overwhelming opinion among many was that Spike was attempting to use the audience WWE built to help TNA's future audience. It is possible that WWE could have been tipped off by Spike that they were going to start running the TNA commercials, so they booked the Matt Hardy vs. Edge match in a rather "hardcore" way to fend off an alternative presentation such as the commercial for TNA did.
Even though WWE management was said to be upset over the TNA commercials airing during RAW last night, a number of WWE wrestlers were said to be happy about seeing them and hope TNA getting on Spike will establish a new competitive promotion for WWE.
