Backstage WWE Royal Rumble News: Future Plans, Title Change, more

By Chris Walters on January 30, 2006 at 1:06 AM EST

- The plan right now is for the originally discussed WrestleMania main-events - Triple H vs. John Cena and Kurt Angle vs. Randy Orton - to take place. According to one source, Rey Mysterio is not presently slated to appear in one of the main-events, so WWE could do an angle where he loses his title shot.

- Based on the angle at the PPV, it should be very clear that WWE is going with HBK vs. McMahon at the WrestleMania PPV - Foley vs. Edge was also talked about, although that is not confirmed.

- The Cena-Edge match was booked to prevent Cena from falling victim to boos from the crowd: his offense was severely limited to allow his intensity to shine without exposing his weaknesses in the ring.

- The Spirit Squad stable received a heavy dose of "go away" heat from the crowd during its appearance at the PPV.
