-Former K-1 USA Grand Prix champion Carter Williams tested positive for cocaine following his stoppage loss on the co-promoted Strikeforce/EliteXC card June 22 in San Jose, Calif., the California State Athletic Commission revealed Wednesday afternoon. That was the show headlined by Frank Shamrock vs. Phil Baroni.
-The following is from MMAWeekly.com: Phil Baroni goes in for surgery this week to repair a hernia and torn groin muscle, both of which he suffered in his recent Strikeforce title fight with Frank Shamrock. According to manager Ken Pavia, he suffered the injuries early on in the first round of the June 22 bout. It'll be 6-7 months before he can fight again.
-Frank Shamrock was paid $200,000 for his latest fight on the Strikeforce/EliteXC PPV show last weekend, promoted by the Showtime premium cable network. Shamrock defeated another former UFC veteran, "The New York Bad Ass" Phil Baroni via submission in the second round. Baroni was paid $100,000.
