Big Marijuana Test Failure, Major Return, & More News

Kazuhiro Nakamura, who lost to Lyoto Machida in Saturday's UFC 76, tested positive for marijuana and was suspended for three months and fined $500. No other athlete on the show tested positive for street drugs and everyone was tested.

MMAScoops.com is reporting that Doug Evans is set to return to the UFC on December 29th at UFC 79. We're told an opponent is believed to be in place. More shortly.

UFC heavyweight Heath Herring will likely to return to the octagon in early 2008 according to his manager, Dean Albrecht, who confirmed the news with UFC Daily earlier today. According to Albrecht, Herring is taking some time off from fighting while continuing to train for his UFC return.

MMAScoops.com is reporting that Lightweight fight between John Pennington vs. Javier Vazquez has been signed ShoXC on Showtime on 10/26/07.

Nick Diaz has been hospitalized with a very bad staff infection. According to GracieFighter.com he contracted the infection a couple of days before his EliteXC fight. MMAScoops.com has learned that he was admitted to a hospital in Las Vegas where he was to watch his brother's fight at UFC Fight Night 11. Diaz has been on an antibiotic IV since Tuesday.
