Current WrestleMania Card Plans and Lots of News and Rumors

Here is the current planned WrestleMania card and other rumors, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

Universal Championship
Goldberg (c) vs. Brock Lesnar

Goldberg is expected to face Kevin Owens at Fastlane, taking the title from him.

Goldberg’s current WWE contract is only until his match at WrestleMania, but there is a chance the contract could be extended since his current run is being seen as a big success.

Lesnar is expected to defeat Goldberg at WrestleMania and take the title from him as of now (since that was supposed to be Goldberg’s final match, but that could change.).

If he does, he is expected to then lose it to either Roman Reigns or Braun Strowman.

The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns

Vince McMahon has apparently been wanting this match for a while and with the Undertaker in pretty bad shape physically (mostly due to his hip injury), this may be his last opportunity.

Undertaker needs hip replacement surgery, but is putting it off until the end of his career (which could be at WrestleMania).

WWE may do a “passing the torch” angle with Undertaker “endorsing” Reigns, but he would likely still be heavily booed. There is speculation that that could lead to a heel turn eventually, but WWE has thus far been dead set on not turning him heel despite the heavy boos.

WWE Championship

Bray Wyatt (c) vs. Randy Orton

Wyatt will most likely win the title from John Cena at the Elimination Chamber match, going on to face Randy Orton, the Royal Rumble winner. The two will also most likely continue their program after WrestleMania, which takes AJ Styles out of the title picture for the near future.

Triple H vs. Seth Rollins

This match is in huge jeopardy with Seth Rollins injuring his knee. Early indications are that Rollins may be out for 8 weeks with an MCL tear, which would mean he could potentially be ready to return a couple of days before WrestleMania, but WWE may not want to rush him back (if he’s even ready that early).

Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho

This match may or may not be for the US title.

Jericho was expected to leave WWE again shortly after WrestleMania to tour with his band, but he has apparently signed new short-term deals with WWE, so he may stay after WrestleMania. He has concerts scheduled for May 27 and June 9, but that’s all for now.

John Cena & Nikki Bella vs. The Miz & Maryse

This is just rumored for now.

There were also plans to have Cena take on the Undertaker or Samoa Joe, but those were scrapped.

WWE may do an angle between the four at Elimination Chamber.

This may also be Nikki Bella’s final match.

There are also rumors that the match could end with an in-ring marriage proposal by John Cena to Nikki Bella.

idk

Big Show vs. Shaquille O’Neal

Shaq winning this match would probably play better for highlights in “the media.”

This match is basically to add some more mainstream publicity.

Charlotte vs. Bayley vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax

WWE has been promoting Charlotte’s PPV undefeated record, so her losing at WrestleMania could be the time for it to come to an end.

Bayley would be the person expected to take the title, which could lead to a feud with Sasha Banks, who is expected to turn heel soon. That would lead to a possible title match between Bayley and Sasha at SummerSlam, but it’s hard to picture Charlotte out of the title picture for too long.

AJ Styles vs. Shane McMahon

This match is just a rumor for now, but it doesn’t seem like there’s much else for Styles to do.

Other Matches

– Dean Ambrose could defend his Intercontinental title, possibly against Baron Corbin or Dolph Ziggler.

– Andre the Giant Battle Royal: Baron Corbin could also end up in this again. Braun Strowman also seems like he may end up in this and would be the favorite to win.

– There would likely be tag title matches for both brands and a match for the SmackDown women’s title.

– Finn Balor is expected to be back by early March, so he will probably end up somewhere. Samoa Joe was expected to get a big push before the Rollins injury, so he probably will also end up somewhere. That pretty much takes care of most of the top names.
