WWE has signed a deal with Jim Ross that will have him be the guest ringside commentator for either the Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar match or Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns match at WrestleMania, according to PWInsider.
Ross will also be appearing on WWE Network specials and could also call some other WWE matches in the future (likely at big PPVs).
The new “Legends-like” deal was reportedly signed about five weeks ago, before the tragic death of Jim Ross’s wife, Jan.
The deal may have been prompted by Jim Ross’s relationship with UK channel ITV’s “World of Sport” wrestling show, which had a two hour special in December with Jim Ross as commentator. It was recently announced that the show would be brought back for 10 episodes and another special and would start shooting in May, with Jeff Jarrett as executive producer. Jim Ross would not be able to call that show now with his new WWE deal. WWE may have also not wanted JR to eventually end up on Impact Wrestling, since there were some rumors about that a few weeks ago.
