“WWE Did You Know” – Montreal Screwjob 20th Anniversary

In a “WWE Did You Know” type fact, Thursday was the 20th anniversary of the infamous Montreal Screwjob. This incident is infamous in WWE history for causing Bret Hart’s departure from the WWF after Earl Hebner called for the bell to be rung early on Vince McMahon’s orders during the WWF Championship match between Hart and Shawn Michaels at Survivor Series 1997, causing Bret Hart to drop the title without his prior knowledge. This match was also notable for being the birth of the evil Mr. McMahon character who was Stone Cold Steve Austin’s main antagonist during the Attitude Era.

Trademark Battle

WWE is reported to be opposing a trademark attempt for “World Class Championship Wrestling” by the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for merchandise purposes, according to PWInsider. WWE claims they purchased all of WCCW’s trademarks from Kevin Von Erich in 2006 and PWHoF’s trademark would create legal confusion if approved. Based on potential court dates, this trial could last as long as mid-2019.

WWE MSG Show Card

WWE’s recently updated the card for their annual Madison Square Garden show on December 26th. The updated matches for the show are:

– Kane vs. Braun Strowman

– Samoa Joe vs. John Cena

– The Shield vs. Bray Wyatt & The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro)

Others making appearances include The Miz, Alexa Bliss, Finn Balor, Sasha Banks, Matt Hardy, Bayley, and Enzo Amore.

The New Day on Raw Brand House Shows

The Wrestling Observer reported that the reason why The New Day wrestled this week’s European house shows for the RAW brand is due to WWE being worried about the lack of star power with Roman Reigns out due to an illness. Another reason for The New Day’s inclusion was to replace Triple H, who left to go home earlier this week.
