According to Pwinsider.com, current Ring of Honor announcer Lenny Leonard will not be a part of the commentary team when ROH hits HDNet. The man replacing Leonard will be ACC Football and Basketball announcer Mike Hogewood, who has no background in pro wrestling, but has worked with NASCAR and Monster Truck announcing. HDNet, who is investing a lot in the ROH TV project, made the decision. Leonard may be a part of ROH DVD releases in the future, but that has not been confirmed. It looks as if Dave Prazak will continue with his roe as commentator for the series, which has its debut tapings on February 28th and March first, from the Arena in Philadelphia, PA.
The 2/6 edition of Friday Night Smackdown on MyNetworkTV drew a 2.1 broadcast rating.
At Friday night’s Raw/ECW house show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, security was very tight around where the wrestlers drove out, likely stemming from last weekend’s incident involving Chris Jericho.
In other notes from the L.A show, it drew approximately 13,000 fans including a few Hollywood celebrities in actor Michael Clarke Duncan and Arsenio Hall. The celebrity TV host was profiled on Fox’s Los Angeles’s 11:00 p.m broadcast attending the event with his son and even offered comment. “No matter what happens in our society you can always see it mirrored in wrestling,” Hall said. “It’s interesting. I love wrestling. Wrestling is kind of a refection of who we are.”
