Backstage Update: Early WWE SummerSlam Plans

WWE has already started working on the top feuds for the SummerSlam pay-per-view event, which is less than three months away.

As of right now, the current plan is for John Cena to defend his WWE title against Alberto Del Rio. Del Rio is currently seen as WWE’s main guy to push right now and nearly everyone expects him to become a world champion sooner than later.

Another match that had been talked about was Rey Mysterio vs. R-Truth. Those plans were moved up after John Morrison underwent surgery earlier this week for a neck issue. That match will now take place at WWE’s Over the Limit pay-per-view in two weeks. It’s possible we’ll now see John Morrison vs. R-Truth at SummerSlam.

Please keep in mind that WWE’s creative plans change on a daily basis so nothing is confirmed just yet. More as we get it.
