Citing “scheduling complications” and a desire to have a “championship card”, the UFC indefinitely postponed their return to Montreal, Canada, Tuesday.
March 24th’s UFC 145 was to be the promotion’s fifth event in Montreal and their first there in over a year, but as The Canadian Press’ Neil Davidson broke the news, it will be some time before the Octagon graces the Bell Centre. Davidson spoke with UFC Director of Canadian Operations Tom Wright who suggested the UFC will try again sometime in 2012.
MMA Junkie spoke with UFC President Dana White on the matter, confirming that White tried to get an April date but availability was scarce. No additional reasons were given for the move, but the spring schedule of fights may undergo some additional changes.
Fights will likely not be moved up to the March 3rd FX show in Australia as that card already has 10 fights. The April 14th FX event in Sweden is a slight possibility for one or two, but most likely the majority of bouts will move to the April 21st UFC 146 event in Atlanta, GA, assumed to be the new UFC 145.
