— As noted earlier here on the website, former WCW United States Champion and Chicago Bears defensive tackler Steve “Mongo” McMichael announced Thursday on the Waddle and Sylvie Show (ESPN 1000 Chicago) that he will be running for mayor of Romeoville, Illinois.
McMichael, who owns Mongo McMichael’s restaurant and sports bar in Romeoville, said he was encouraged to run by his customers, who are unhappy with various issues in the village including a lack of businesses and empty store fronts. The Four Horsemen alumnus plans to seek signatures in October to be on the mayoral ballot and expects to run against Mayor John Noak in the April election.
— Former WWE Superstar Ken Shamrock is today’s featured Superstar on WWE.com.
— According to SuperLuchas.net, former TNA Wrestling star Alex Shelley has signed a contract with WWE. Shelley left TNA a few months back and was reportedly in talks with WWE to join the promotion’s roster directly, as opposed to spending time developmental. It is unknown if he got that request. Also keep in mind the source of this news (SuperLuchas.net). There have numerous stories by them that appear to have been made up so take this with a grain of salt for now.
