Backstage Update – Edge’s ‘Strained’ WWE Relationship

At this time, there is some strain on the relationship between WWE and retired performer Edge. WWE had previously offered Edge a legend’s contract, but he refused to sign due to the fact that he was insulted by what WWE offered him.

There is also the issue that Edge is getting heat because his real-life girlfriend Beth Phoenix is leaving WWE soon. Some feel that she is leaving due to the relationship, which is why Edge is getting the heat.

Finally, Edge is appearing for Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore event, using his status to do several media appearances for the promotion. This has rubbed some within WWE the wrong way.

At this time it is expected that WWE and Edge will work together in the future, but it appears that WWE is unhappy with Edge going off to do his own thing.
