WWE has begun early preparation on their own weekend-long convention in the style of the San Diego Comic-Con. The plan would be to hold the event over four days in the same market as a pay-per-view. There is no timetable for the first event, as the company is still planning. They have contacted fans through surveys to see what they would be interested in for a potential convention.
The four-day event would run from Thursday to Sunday and be more like a comic book convention than the current AXXESS events. This includes panels with WWE writers, executives, legends and current talents. There would also likely be autograph and photo sessions, interactive contests and activities with other fans, PPV and other event watching parties in theaters, live matches from WWE NXT, a vendor’s area with exhibitors displaying and selling items, a WWE memorabilia display, a fan collector zone for your own collection, a video game lounge and more.
The early plan is for a VIP ticket worth $100-$150 along with a general admission ticket. The convention ticket would be separate from the PPV ticket. Early markets being considered are NYC, Orlando, New Orleans, Los Angeles, San Antonio, Miami, Philadelphia and Las Vegas.
It’s likely the WWE wants to keep fans attending WWE events during big WWE weeks, instead of independent shows like Wrestlecon, which was a big success last year.
